The project at a glance
DigiSET (Digitally Sustainable European Teacher Academy) is a project co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme (Teacher Academies, call ERASMUS-EDU-2025-PEX-TEACH-ACA). It runs for 36 months, from January 2026 to December 2028.
The aim is to define a new competence profile for European teachers that, for the first time, integrates three European Commission frameworks: DigCompEdu (digital competences for educators), LifeComp (key competences for lifelong learning), and GreenComp (sustainability competences). Rather than a standalone refresher course, DigiSET offers a structured, certifiable pathway that takes teachers from conceptual learning through classroom experimentation to recognition as Academy trainers.
By 2028, 700 teachers from 8 European countries will have been trained and certified as Digitally Sustainable European Teachers.

Months of activity
The three Academy tools
The DigiSET Academy rests on three integrated technological components, each designed to support teachers at a different stage of their professional development.
Community of Practice
An open digital space where trained teachers share educational resources, good practices, and teaching materials with colleagues across Europe. The Community is the beating heart of the Academy: the place where individual knowledge becomes a collective asset.
MOOC
A massive open online course that makes the Academy’s training content accessible to a wider audience, beyond the 700 teachers directly involved in the project. Structured modules, multimedia materials, and integrated assessment.
AI simulation platform
A virtual environment powered by artificial intelligence that allows teachers to experiment with realistic classroom scenarios before applying them in practice. Adaptive learning, personalised feedback, and a safe space to rehearse.
The partnership
DigiSET brings together 16 organisations from 8 European countries: universities, schools, training centres, teachers’ unions, and research and development bodies. The project is coordinated by the University for Continuing Education Krems (Austria).
The first six months
The project launched in January 2026. Here are the key milestones from the opening months.

- Official project launch and establishment of the Project Management Office (PMO).
- January 2026
- Start of WP2: desk research begins on the Digitally Sustainable European Teacher competence profile.
- March 2026
- Kick-off meeting in Krems, Austria, with all consortium partners.
- March 2026
- Publication of the project’s visual identity, launch of social media channels and project website.
- March 2026
- Publication of the Communication and Dissemination Plan (D8.2).
- April 2026
- Publication of National Reports “Teacher Competences for Sustainable Digital Literacy”.
- May 2026
- Establishment of the Quality Committee and publication of the Quality Assurance Plan.
- May – June 2026
- Continuation of field research across partner countries: teacher questionnaires, stakeholder focus groups, analysis of national reports.
